This game looked incredible from the day it was announced. Having played, and loved, Uncharted from Naughty Dog, I thought the game play would be somewhat similar. It is not, however. The story seems great so far but my problem is with the combat system. The aiming is a PITA to start. Second, it seems to take too many shots to kill an enemy while you seem to die so fast from damage. Not to mention the ammo is extremely scarce.
Due to that it seems I am making my way through the whole game in stealth mode which kills it for me. I mean I can understand having certain situations where stealth is critical but so far it seems to be the entire game so far.
If the combat system were more like Uncharted, this game would be an easy 10/10.

The single player story line is by far nicely done from Naughty dog. Depending on what level of mode you play it on causes different things to take place, as well as the amount of tools you'll find. I enjoy multi player as well. It's got a nice lil facebook thing that if you connect it it just uses your friends names for your clan of who you're trying to keep alive and supply for. no it does not post anything on your facebook. And at times is very difficult keeping them alive lol. Headset helps you out alot as well as having friends that you know will help too but not neseccary. I really like how swift the gameplay interchanges with the cutscenes. Graphics in the game are beautiful as well. I hope this is just the beginning of an amazing array of games from naughty dog.
I don't usually write reviews, but when I do, it's usually for one of two kinds of games. A game that i absolutely hate and want to warn people not to go near, or a game that is so incredible, that I want every one of my fellow gamers to jump on and enjoy. This game fits into the latter category. If you are looking for a shoot-em-up, a 3rd person shooter, or a hack and slash... then don't touch this game. If you play games for the story, and recognize that a good one is the foundation that makes a game of the year... or decade... then pounce on this game and buy it ASAP.
There are several things that make The Last of Us a Best Game of All Time candidate. The level of detail, the plausibility of the back-story, the emotional impact on the player, and the attachment that slowly but steadily starts to develop over the course of the game towards the characters are all reasons to play this game.
Never have a played a game that made me so interested in a fungus. I found myself researching "cordyceps", the fungus that turns insects into mindless zombie-like creatures that die above their colony and become the center of the rest of the colony's demise after fungal spores burst out of it's head. In this game, cordyceps makes the jump to humanity, turning humans into sub-human animals which go around infecting other humans before they eventually die, and just like those insects, spread fungal spores via a ruptured head.
The emotional impact is intense at times, so intense in fact, that I found myself choking back tears at times, laughing at others, and at all times, feeling the underlying desperation in the characters.
I feel as though I'm rambling, so I will cut this review off here by saying that you all MUST purchase The Last of Us. It is simply THAT good.
