All in all, this game is just pure arcade shooter with broken controls. the single player is run, shoot, reload, repeat. you get a rating on how cool your kills are, but with a lacking in dynamic player movement and sluggish controls you're left feeling empty. Single player tournaments are also very repetative. Most achievements revolve around playing levels on normal difficulty, then on insane. Then repeating them for all 8 characters. Lacking originality you just repeat the tournament line a total of 16 times for each level in order to get the achievements. Multiplayer on the other hand is a different story. There's a variety of gameplay options that are very different from many other games. Some however are the same old gametypes renamed. One involves a fox vs fox mode (Kind of like assassination from Gears of War) in which you have to kill the enemy team's fox to win. The biggest downfall to the multiplayer is, again, the lack of something new in the gameplay. Everything feels redundant and repeting. Needs more work Sega.... Arcade shooters are 2d and in the past!
I did not at all enjoy playing this game, I found the style of it annoying and repetitive. On the other hand, The Club was successful in doing EXACTLY what they set out to do; combine a racer and a shooter, which is why I'l give it a 7. This has been done before (twisted metal anyone?) but not in this style. Fighting games with vehicles can be fun. Racing games with people? Not so much. Being someone that likes a good storyline, I was excited when i rented this. Too my dismay, this game does not even have a story mode. It has time trials in which you pick a character and run through the level, trying to get speed and kills. Most of your kills are expected to come without targeting. The graphics were decent, but not great. I was done with this game within the first hour and a half of playing it. Rent it if you must, but be aware of what your renting.
