Honestly if you are a fan of this genre of game then this is one game you have to play I mean c'mon, it's Rock Band with all Beatles's songs.
The reason for my score though comes down to that fact also, it's all Beatles's songs. Every little innovation that they did for this game, be it the harmony parts or the fantastic little dreamscapes that appear in the recording studio part of their career, only applies to this game. That means all those songs I Downloaded I have to take out one disc, put in another and then jam away again hoping I don't need a Beatles fix again. Also what hurt the score was, although the band put out a lot of great songs let's face it, they really started to get pretty crazy and a little too weird for my taste near the end of their journey together which also means you have to push through these bad songs to get to the other stuff.
Regardless of who you are there has and will never be another band like the Beatles and you will have 1 if not 20 songs that you will just love to play over and over again. Harmonix did a fantastic job of recreating the fab four and taking us through their career. Play the game because the harmony parts and the dreamscapes themselves are worth seeing, and let's just hope that next rock band comes with the same innovations as this game gave us
I had REALLY anticipated this game, and orginally was going to purchase the bundle. Due to the lack of $250 extra dollars eating a whole in my pocket, I settled for the rental option, and boy am I really happy I did that. I don't want to give the wrong impression. I liked the game, but thought it was nowhere near worth paying $250 for a new bundle. Graphically the game is quite stunning. It was difficult to not watch the videos and backgrounds while playing. Now the music is great music, but bottom line, it's not the type of music that is designed for a musical rythm game like RB or GH. In fact the first 3 or 4 chapters were pretty boring, because there weren't alot of notes to hit in those songs. I like the Beatles and their music and I liked the game....but I don't believe it's even worth a $60 buy let alone a $250. I guess for those super die hard fans it's well worth the money, but for someone like me, who is very diverse in the types of games he plays, it's only worth a rental. If you have to buy either Beatles or GH5...go with GH5, at least you'll get GHVH free later on.
