um, what?

i am HUGE spidey fan, have been since my early years. naturally, i was excited about this game. i had high expectations for it, namely the combat once they said they wanted to mold it after that of the "Arkham" Batman games. i wound up renting it from a redbox to see if it would live up to that expectation, and it did NOT. yes, it's a free roam game and it's cool that you can collect and read full comics, but to say you are basing combat of the two best Batman games ever, was a lie. the combat wasn't based on that system at all, more like a loose guideline - VERY loose. no gadgets, little combat animations, and mainly one button fighting makes this game geared towards ages 5-10 (not much thought or ability required). i have been playing the Arkham games for months now and i STILL see NEW combat animations that i hadn't seen before. i saw all this game had to offer in a matter of like 30 minutes and i was not impressed. not even for the $2.13 it cost to rent. i once felt the same way about Dead Island, but i recently picked that up again and i love it now, so i may give this another try... may.
IMO, web of shadows is still the best spidey game out there. aerial combat, variety of moves, black/red suit alternation anytime each with it's own abilities... shattered dimensions is a good runner-up.
