I would've given this game at least an 8 if Arkham Asylum/City didn't exist. But they do exist and the developer of this game, Beenox, stole the majority of the combat system from Arkham and replaced Batman with Spidey--right down to pressing 'Y' for countering attacks and hanging from the ceiling, incapacitating enemies via stealth. Honestly, it is good system...but it's been done and done better by Batman. I wonder if Beenox even feels any sort of guilt by blatantly ripping off another game? How about being creative and actually coming up with ideas yourself? It's one thing to borrow 1 or 2 things from Arkham but almost the whole combat system? Really?
The one part that I did enjoy was the sandbox free roam web swinging in NY. I always enjoy that part of sandbox Spidey games, and the graphics and the fluidity in which you swing around is fun. Unfortunately, once the novelty wears off you realize the city is lifeless and there's really not much to do except collectables for achievements.
If you're a huge Spidey fan and you don't mind that the game is a blatant ripoff of Batman, you might have a lot of fun with this. But I just frown upon the developer for being lazy and trying to copy another game thinking people wouldn't care.
The story has alot of spoilers so if you havent seen it , you might want to wait and see it. Not As Good of Plot. All of the Robots and Cross Species, didnt mix. You'll find yourself in the sewers most of the time and chasing a charactor then you find other Cross species you have to fight first below you. The game felt the same. Besides the stor, you only can help sick people, chase cars, or save people from muggers. Every thing is much simpler. The only good is the combat and swinging in the open world, which makes this game so special.
