First things first, the graphics for the PS2 version aren't as shiny as the PC and xbox 360 versions. Get over it. However, the PS2 graphics are some of the best ones capable on the PS2. The cars are accurately recreated in great detail, even the insides. Don't get me wrong, but the good cars (exotics, etc) take a while to get to but eventually you will get them. The island of Oahu, Hawaii has about 1000 miles road recreated and its huge. Once you get your bank account in the "big bucks" range, you can begin purchasing some of the 50+ houses/ mansions for sale, each with its own garage ranging from 4 - 10 car storage. Online play is like nothing else- no chat, but who cares. Its a video game not a instant messenger. Seamlessly you can play with hundreds of people at once and you can see the other players driving around with you. For the drifting fans (like myself) there are plenty of drift capable cars and lots of twisting mountain roads to get your drift on.
Overall, this is one of my favorite games. Definitly a good rent and buy.
