Terminator Works

As the title suggests, terminator works…but beyond that there is not much more to be said about this game. Graphics and sound do much to bring you into the post apocalyptic nightmare that audiences were always enamored with in the movie titles. Not only does the graphics and sound set tone, but are in keeping with other new-gen titles. The control scheme works well and movement is well thought out and executed with “gnarly” animations that show Conner sliding from cover to cover. Voiceover work could be far worse as well we do not get drug down in story line. So if sound, graphics, movement, talent, and story line are not the problems, what are?
All of the above show Terminator to be a working title, but these are the only plusses to the title. Though I wrote that we do not get drug down in story line, we do get drug down in non-interesting cut scenes after every uninspired encounter. 10 second fight followed by cutscene, 10 second fight followed by cutscene, 10 sec….I think you get the point. None of the cutscenes advance any real story, the only story is that John Conner wants to go save some people whom he may or may not be overly familiar with…boy that’s catchy. The short fights feel like a repeat of the same scenario, using the same basic 5 enemies with just a small difference in were the cover is. Load times don’t take overly long (cept when you die), and that’s a good thing because this game has tons of them. Care for riding in vehicles? Well you will do a lot of that, though you won’t be in the driver’s seat, you will be shooting various mounted guns and trying to save your ride…over…and over…again.
In the end, this game is not fun…however…it does work. That is why I only marked it just below average. It’s like some fun sucker came by and had a field day with this title. Truly disappointing, since the game did work, something that many do not do.
