I am amazed at how much I do not like this game.
First off, the graphics are not up to par with the system this is on. I have played Viewtiful Joe DS and I am aware a platforming, cell shaded game is possible. This is how the Ninja Turtle PS2 and XBOX games were made, and I do not see why the konami team took a step back for the DS. The animations are okay, but get pretty redundant quickly, and the enemies start to become clones of each other (a purple triceratops and a blue one do not constitute different enemies, sorry).
The difficulty level on this game is pretty horrible as well. My first time playing, I set the game to normal mode - turns out on normal mode one hit from an enemy will kill you. ONE HIT. So, back to easy i went.
The Gameplay itself is very boring. I knew what I was getting into, and I anticipated more of the "NES days" on my ds, however I had no idea how wrong my hopes were. The fighting is boring, the enemies get boring, and the DS functions included into the game (such as turning a faucet with your stylus) get very repetitive and boring quickly. How many times could I possibly use the word boring in regards to this gameplay? Not enough.
The sound is typical, and by typical i mean typical of my old snes games. Nothing very appealing in that department either.
The only positive thing I can say about this game is I was fairly impressed with some of the moves your character can pull off. It is fun to jump on an enemy, punch them out, then throw them across the screen - however this was fun for me the first few times, and after that the horrible aspects of the game really ruined this end.
The absolute worst thing I can mention about this game is this : IF YOU RENT THIS FROM GAMEFLY, LIKE I DID, AND HAPPEN TO GET THE COPY I DID, IT IS POINTLESS TO SAVE YOUR GAME!! Im not sure if its just this copy, or all of the games, but everytime I saved and turned off, my save was washed away. Worst.
