I'm a big fan of old school RPGs (breath of fire, suikoden, star ocean, etc.) and this game has all the elements of a solid old school RPG.
And here's the breakdown..
The story is solid, kept me interested. Nothing ground breaking here but they did a good job (much better than the last RPG I played.. FF13-2...)
The battle system and how you progress your characters skills I really enjoyed. I think they did a good job on this.
I liked the characters and the character development through out the game, it worked nicely I thought. the graphics are nice but nothing spectacular.
I wasn't a big fan of the sound track in this game. And although the world is open and you can re-visit areas the game still felt kind of linear. But not nearly as bad as other RPGs I've played.
If you like old school RPGs you will love this game. If you like RPGs and Anime you should at the very least rent this game. It's really worth playing!
If you like the series it doesn't dissapoint. The lineage after you beat the game has a slightly stronger story, and answers some of the questions you have after beating the main game. With that said id buy it as Tales games are meant to be played multiple times.
