Well, dear reader, sit back and enjoy a tale of how a game was made just to sponge money off of a so called "hit" kids movie.
You've heard that tale many times before, have you, dear reader? Well, that's sure is a shame because you're going to have to hear it again.
The Tale of Desperaux is based on the movie of the same title, and it's a 3D platformer, like many, many other film-based games.
Say it with me: you go from one point to another jumping over obstacles, battling bad things, and collecting objects (in this case, cheese and buttons).
You can use the buttons to buy better combat maneuvers, but that's not needed, Wildly flailing your arms around is good enough to beat most of the bad guys you will face. It's simple fun, but it can lead to tennis elbow.
No, the biggest headache I got from this game is the stationary camera that made it hard to traverse the levels.
I also got angered by the difficult jumps I had to pull off. Why do they have to put in so many jumping sections into these games? I found almost no joy in them.
Still, I was able to get through the game in less than five hours, and I have no desire to play through the game a second time. I was hoping for a longer shelf life for a game costing $30.
We should put an end to mediocre to bad movie-based games like Tale of Desperaux by simply ignoring it. SKIP IT.
