I am not fond of how most RPG's and other games have turned out since the increase of online gameplay. Most games on next gen systems focus too much on hooking you up with people around the world that want to troll you or steal your identity.
This game however is one of the rare goodies that doesn't have a co-op online mode, which means they focused solely on the campaign and single player modes. The fighting mechanics are a breath of fresh air, not just hack and slash but it has some creative elements. And learning new abilities is so addicting because of how unique each one is. It just makes you itching to find out what your new magic or new skill can do. The animation might be considered outdated to some people, but I think it looks humble and it adds a nice sense of atmosphere to the story moments.
Now the main reason I give this game a 10 is because of the creative battle mechanics and massive customization available. I don't normally see a game with both. Usually I get an RPG with great fighting, but there is little variety. Or a game with tons of variety, but a stale hack and slash fighting style. This game possesses some brand new ideas and gaming styles.
So if you've been waiting for something completely new and you don't care about online gameplay, then this game will surprise you with how addictive and original it is.

morons say this game is terrible and have no sense for games. this games characters r not dogi and adol wannabes. there is a lot to this game.
and this game is defined as an "action rpg" not action and adventure. if this was action and adventure it would b an a lot more intense and harder. but its wicked easy and i'd say its worth buying and keeping.
