Superman is notorious for his laundry list of horrible video game adaptations, but "Shadow of Apokolips" is actually pretty decent. It's based on "Superman: The Animated Series", and boasts the same visual style and voice talent as that show. It controls pretty well, and you get to use all of Superman's powers (though the Heat Vision really steals the show). It doesn't take long to complete, however, and the gameplay, though solid, isn't exactly overflowing with variety. Additionally, the story is rather anticlimactic. Despite the presence of the word "Apokolips" in the game's title, neither the planet Apokolips nor its ruler Darkseid ever enter into the action.
It could definitely be a lot more than what it is, but it's a solid adventure, and Superman fans will probably get a kick out of it.
I have not played too many Superman video games, but I doubt you'll find many better than this one.
The controls in this game are well explained, easy to remember, and smooth to play with. Superman's abilities are well designed, and on a good system (much better than the system in the N64 Superman game). The game play is rather short, but isn't too difficult, with just the right amount of challenge to make you pay attention.
The most annoying part of the game is two different parts where you have to mash A to get through, and are on a rather short time limit (lots of pausing here to keep my arm's energy up with out running out of time).
The boss fights are creative, and make you think a little bit to get around them.
Overall this is a very fun game, and worth trying out.
WELL unless your an octopus or a contortionists i would not recommend this game to my dog.... The created seems to have forgotten the adage keep it simple this thing will tight you in nots tiring to play it......
