Nintendo's biggest icon is finally here and he brings a ton of fun. Mario 64 revolutionized platforming, and so does Super Mario Galaxy.
Controls: What can I say? Nintendo did an amazing job with the controls, they are spot on. The only gripe I have with the controls, is sometimes you find yourself a little confused on which way to move the joystick with the funky gravity. That is a small gripe though and it doesn't have a huge impact on the game.
Graphics: Beautiful. For all the talk about how graphically inferior the Wii is, this game is simply pretty.
Gameplay: The one word to sum this game up is, fun. The gravity, different galaxies, etc. is all amazingly well done and extremely fun. You have to collect so many "power" stars in a galaxy to unlock more worlds to play, with the end of that world being a mini-boss which then rewards you with a Grand Star. You need at least 60 Power Stars and 4 Grand Stars. I will say this though, the game is not very challenging and therefore didn't hold my attention long enough to get over the bare minimum of stars.
Sound: Good. Nothing amazing but nothing terrible at the same time. They also bring back some ole school Mario jams here and there.
Overall: 8/10. Definitely the best game on the Nintendo Wii and a front-runner for Game of the Year. At the very least you must rent this game.

Prior to playing this game, my favorite game of all time was Metal Gear Solid. This puts that to shame. I know that they aren't the same kind of game at all, but this is just so much more timeless. It's an unbelievable adventure. The gravity jumps and the tiny planets and the space junk and the surfing and everything. I just can't express enough how much I love this game. Please, if you are a Mario fan...actually, if you are a video game fan at all, buy this game. It's fun no matter how much video game experience you have.
