Bad

Not Impressed...

As a fan of the Super Mario series, I was exited to learn that the new Super Mario All-Stars game was going to be the next game arriving in the mail. That excitement quickly subsided once I loaded the game up.

Years ago, a game with the same title was released for the Super Nintendo platform. Both versions include the same set of four games (the original Super Mario, Super Mario Lost Levels, Super Mario 2, and Super Mario 3). The version for the Super Nintendo updated some of the graphics from the original (most notably in the original Super Mario game). It appears that nothing (and I mean nothing) was changed when the game was ported to the Wii platform. The opening sequence and the graphics appear to be the same. In fact, when starting a new game, the graphic showing the controls is that of a Super Nintendo controller. Needless to say, I was quite disappointed. I think Nintendo could have done a much better job.

I had considered purchasing this game as I no longer have all of the original games on any platform. I am glad that I decided not to (especially since this game is selling for about $75 on Amazon, although I think it is some sort of collector's edition). I probably would have given the game a lower rating had it not encompased a set of classic games.

I was very dis-satisfied in this game, not even the orignal graphics. Nintendo's way of trying to make a buck.

The only reason why I'm not giving this a 1 is because after playing this game I went to my garage and dug out my old Super Nintendo and my OG All-Star cart. That brought back so many memories :,)

With that said this version is a complete piece of $#!%!!! After reading all the reviews about there being lag but only noticeable with a bigger screen I was sure that using a 22" would be fine and not noticeable. Boy was I wrong. I kept falling into holes or running into enemies because Mario wouldn't jump when I pressed the jump button which was so frustrating. Second the game screen didn't fill up my TV, it only uses 3/4 of it which is complete BULL$#!%. The SNES version didn't do that not even on my 42" TV so why did the supposedly "newer" version, which we all knew was the exact same version but just for the Wii, be any different? Exactly none, but there is in the completely wrong places.

I waited almost 2 weeks for this game because of a problem with my post office which made me really anxious to play it and when I finally got it it was like getting regular white socks for Christmas :,(

The only reason I wanted to rent this game and play it is because I bought Super Mario 3 through the Wii store and I was kinda whatever with it. I thought it was going to be the SNES All-Star version with the revamped colors and controls but it wasnt it was just the NES version. Which I played when I was little too but I just got so use to the other one which just felt weird. But Im getting off topic so Ill just end it here with a word of advice.

Dig out your SNES out of the garage its going to be well worth it =D
