The only reason why I'm not giving this a 1 is because after playing this game I went to my garage and dug out my old Super Nintendo and my OG All-Star cart. That brought back so many memories :,)
With that said this version is a complete piece of $#!%!!! After reading all the reviews about there being lag but only noticeable with a bigger screen I was sure that using a 22" would be fine and not noticeable. Boy was I wrong. I kept falling into holes or running into enemies because Mario wouldn't jump when I pressed the jump button which was so frustrating. Second the game screen didn't fill up my TV, it only uses 3/4 of it which is complete BULL$#!%. The SNES version didn't do that not even on my 42" TV so why did the supposedly "newer" version, which we all knew was the exact same version but just for the Wii, be any different? Exactly none, but there is in the completely wrong places.
I waited almost 2 weeks for this game because of a problem with my post office which made me really anxious to play it and when I finally got it it was like getting regular white socks for Christmas :,(
The only reason I wanted to rent this game and play it is because I bought Super Mario 3 through the Wii store and I was kinda whatever with it. I thought it was going to be the SNES All-Star version with the revamped colors and controls but it wasnt it was just the NES version. Which I played when I was little too but I just got so use to the other one which just felt weird. But Im getting off topic so Ill just end it here with a word of advice.
Dig out your SNES out of the garage its going to be well worth it =D

If Nintendo wanted to squeeze more money from the turnip that is old-school Mario, then they should at least give gamers something to look forward to! Why oh why would I waste my money on this waste of time when I can just plug in the old SNES and get all these great games PLUS SUPER MARIO WORLD?!?!?!
"Limited Edition" bonuses should be included in every single copy, if only to make up for the glaring omission of Super Mario World. No new music, no new graphics....um, why pay all that money to go back to the nineties? Nothing new added to this package makes it a complete waste of time.
If you own the classics, plus the remakes on gameboy, plus the snes all-stars, then this is a drink coaster. If not, then just grab the one with Super Mario World and let this title die a well-deserved death. Shame on you Nintendo. This should be a fifteen dollar download on the Wii Shop Channel. Shame on you...
Perhaps it's just me, but I expect more from a game on disc, particularly one that is for the Wii. If it's on the Wii, it should use the functionality it was designed to handle, be more social and add new fun twists to an old favorite. This should be just a download because it's exactly the same as it was before. Nintendo... seriously, if you want more market share, quit riding Mario into the ground.
