Still good, but stick to the classic version

As a remake of the classic "Super Mario Bros. 2", "Super Mario Advance" does a serviceable job, honoring the basics while throwing in a few new twists. My main gripe is that the game has been made way too easy by the abundance of extra lives and health-restoring hearts. They're EVERYWHERE! You can even find hearts inside boss rooms, ripe for the picking should one of Triclyde's fireballs graze you. Consequently, the drop in difficulty is almost game-breaking. Still, "SMB 2" is "SMB 2", and no matter what form it takes, it's a game worth playing. And the hunt for Yoshi Eggs and Red Coins is a nice addition.
The upgraded version of the classic "Mario Bros." is a welcome feature, as fun and as addictive as always. Even though it went on to be included in each subsequent Super Mario Advance title (as well as "Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga"), it was really cool at the time.
