The premise here is you are a stunt driver and must follow precisely the direction that is given you in filming several different styles of movies. The game has great action (big jumps, explosions, crashes) but it can be an extremely frustrating endeavor. The reshoots (meaning you didn't do it like the director wanted) come fast and furious until you can memorize the entire run. If you're an achievement-hound (Xbox 360) then this is not the game for you. Only the most determined gamers need to attempt to forage all the achievements out of this game (like getting a 5-star rating in every scene - not gonna happen). I'd go mad before I accomplished that goal.
But it does have its moments of fun - especially the "Dukes of Hazzard" knock-off scenes where you get to drive the "General Stuart" and a big ol' monster truck. The jumps are big fun. But the game gets very technical - especially towards the end - so be sure to get all the basic moves down before moving on: reverse-180 turns, two-wheel driving, that kind of stuff.
I enjoyed it as a rental but would never have the patience to play for an extended period of time. With that, I still gave it a 7.
There is no doubt about it, Stuntman: Ignition is an awesome game. It's like playing a role playing game except not having to do all the walking around and stuff, just the action sequences. It's a really fun game and it isn't always easy. Trying to get 5 stars on any level will keep you occupied for a while. The multiplayer is also a lot of fun. There are some glitchy sequences and it trying to get high scores does get a little frustrating, but its a great game to play alone or with friends. Not many games get me enthusiastic anymore, but this game definitely does. Stuntman will make you want to be in the movies.
Game looks good, can be pleasent to play. But if you go for five stars on everything be prepared to play scenes over and over again, heck even if going for 4 stars be prepared for many retries. If you dont enjoy doing the same thing over and over then this game is not for you. If you strive for perfection, then go for it. Definetley a rental. Fun for about a week.
