I went ahead and bought this game ASAP. That kind of conclusion jumping has failed me before, but not in the case of Street Fighter Alpha Anthology. Simply put this is the game of games for SFA fans. Alpha 1, Alpha 2, Alpha 2 Gold (not much too much difference between these first three games), Alpha 3 (includes the fabled Evil Ryu character),and Super Gem Fighter(known as Pocket Fighter to most of us in america).
The collective presentation is minimalist, but the 5 games individual presentation is pretty solid.
All the nostalgic glory of the original games is maintained nicely. Nothing really has been changed from the original releases they're still just as fun and challenging in '06 as in the early 90's. A new "dramatic battle" mode has been added(Two on One fights), and a few unlockables are available (maybe not quite enough if your a hardcore fan). But the fact that the entire Alpha Collection is on one disc should be enough for anyone.
The loading time is surprisingly quick, keeping a seamless SFA experience. And the saving options uses little memory and only a single slot for all the games.
The only complaints i could have is at times the A.I. seems just a bit repetitive with its projectile attacks and if you do buy the game the manual it comes with offers ABSOLUTELY NO help with specific moves, combos, and the unlockables.
