Nineteen year-old DJ Williams (Columbus Short) is a troubled teen who finds himself in juvenile hall after the death of his younger brother. In an effort to start a new life and forget his past, DJ enrolls at Atlanta's Truth University with the help of his aunt and uncle. Once there, he quickly finds his street-dancing talents coveted by two rival fraternities. Step dancing is a huge part of the fraternity life, a longstanding tradition, and each frat wants to add DJ to its step team in hopes of winning the national step show. DJ will have to find his way while getting an education, wooing his crush (Meagan Good), and becoming part of step dancing's rich heritage. Stomp the Yard is an inspirational story backed by electrifying dance sequences.
