Atlus games are always hit or miss, and this one here's WAY off target. I came into it with absolutely no expectations and walked out absolutely furious.
After booting up the game I was treated to a half hour of cheesy, cringe-inducing dialogue, after which I was playing through similar looking rooms with similar goals for over an hour straight--that was about 20 entire missions. TWENTY missions that were more or less the exact same room with the exact same goal, but with a different enemy layout.
Truth be to told, on paper it sounds like much of the garbage that gets released today, so what makes Steal Princess so much more annoying? Throughout those 20 missions there wasn't a hint of story progress--just a pointless 10-second dialogue exchange and some tutorials. And the controls? Just wow. Whether you're using the stylus or the traditional layout I guarantee frustration.
Steal Princess is a game that is just plain bad. I'd have given it a 1 out of 10 if it weren't for the nice looking character design, which was the main reason I was interested in the game. It's a shame that not a single aspect of it delivers on the same level as the art.
