I bought this game when it first came out because I was hyped up about episode II. I was, oh, I don't know, 7, or something at this point. Right then, I loved this game. I thought it was the coolest thing ever that you could use force powers while in a airplane, and I played it for hours on end.
A couple of days ago, however, I picked it back up and tried to play it again for the first time since forever, and I realized that it was only acceptable for a kid. This is one of those games with mindless enemies everywhere, and you either have to protect something or blow something up in every mission. The on board force powers are a little strange , as i don't understand how a jedi can create a force lighting large enough to kill about 30 enemies in one shot. the physics in this game are outright horrible, shining most brilliantly when you nose dive your plane into the water and suddenly your going straight up without explanation, assuming that the water is capable of bouncing twenty-five ton star fighters like a kid on a trampoline.
One thing that this game does have going for it, though, is some of it's special features. Once you beat the game under certain conditions you get all these nifty little cartoons and videos that generally are spoofing star wars to watch, the most entertaining of which being "my day a work" about the offices of lucas arts, and also some mildly funny fake "bloopers" from some of the main story's cut scenes.
During the story you cannot choose your plane at any point, you just have to use the one assigned to that mission, however in the bonus menu you unlock at the end you can choose from a variety of ships, some in the game and some not. This makes the story mode a little more interesting, trying out different planes, but even with that its not enough to keep anyone over the age of 9 entertained for more than fifteen minutes.
Final Verdict- if you are, or live with someone that is around 7 and loves Star Wars, get it. If you are 9+, ignore.
