A sandbox game would have been nice...

The only sandbox game that exists with the Star Trek name is star trek online... The problem with hollywood games is that they have a set palette.. Usually good graphics, but insane difficulty and some flawed linear designs.. Add to that the fact that the control scheme is complicated.. Your people tell you that you can't warp to escape damage to fix your ship and often times there is no real reason why you can't warp you just don't.. Some ships are over powered and some ships should have been decommissioned before they were even built(decommissioned after they were drawn)... Even when you have a clear advantage in ship strength you will be forced to flee and repair your damaged ship... Oh, and there is that little matter that the computer's ship get their shields back to full strength faster than you do! Menus(skirmish mode) are known to frequently reset their values to unplayable settings every time, and the game is also known to crash when a little smudge or speck is on the disk, thus you must keep the disk fully clean to avoid crashes... Despite all that is wrong with this game alot of effort was used to make this game... Graphically the models seem to be surpisingly good, but while on your ship the damage is clearly visible; it is not the case with the computer's ship(yes they appear just as new as when the match started)..
In the end, I just couldn't bring myself to get this game.. They get so much wrong it is truely a shame..
Try before you buy!
