I Like Driving Games.....I Didn't Like This Game

This game is a big pile of awful for a fan of driving games with even a smidge of accuracy to them. I took a chance on the rental and was disappointed. The AI quickly erases any lead you have built up so it reduces the game to being lucky more than being skilled. Also, I have better uses of my time than to replay the same race dozens of times waiting to be lucky enough to get past it.

Pet Peeve Alert.....this game also places you at the back of every single starting grid. Please explain to me why so many games do this. Oh, you don't have to tell me as I already know it's due to sloppy/lazy game development.

Good

fun arcade gameplay

It's been a while since I played a racing game, and I admit, I leaned towards games with more realistic cars and elements like Gran Turismo and Need for Speed. I was pleasantly surprised by this game, however. It is loud, fast and the graphics are amazing - and as a whole I'm glad I gave it a try. It's the kind of game you want to break out when you got some friends over. Easy to pick up, lots of action and close calls and crashing into last place is almost a treat as you use power plays to catch back up.

You can almost see the "2 Tokens to Play" before each race, and it plays as such. This is an arcade game. A whole lot of sizzle and spice, but not much meat. They put a lot of thought into this game, the sound effects, etc and it shows. The demolition (semi-truck) and helicopter modes were a great idea to break up the normal race mode, but everything as a whole starts get old half way through the season, which is when I sent this game back.

I was getting first or second place every race for a long while, (albeit sometimes after one retry) so I'm not sure what the other reviewers meant when you needed "flawless execution of skill" and the cars behind you would "slingshot" out of nowhere... It did seem that the more advance cars will either swing too easily into a drift (slowing you down considerably...) or not drifting at all slamming you into a wall... I guess like with any racing game, you need to learn the tracks better as your cars become more powerful. You will get most of your power plays by drafting, not drifting. Multiplayer was fun, but if you haven't unlocked all the cars by beating the game, you will be at a disadvantage. So I didn't get a very good chance at competing.
