I have played many spider-man games and this one tops them all. It never gets old, its a pretty long game, you get to switch from the black suit and the red one, there are multiple paths to take in this game, it does not follow the movie (what a relief), and over all just a great game to play. I would recommend it to any one who likes to play spider man games.

I've been reading some reviews for this game, and while many reviewers say that they were impressed by some aspects of it, they all gave it fairly low ratings because of its minor flaws and because it doesn't compare to Spiderman 2. Let me disagree with them all and say that this game, despite its small flaws, is the first game I've yet to play which really nails the idea of Spiderman.
The game's plot is, luckily, entirely original, meaning that it isn't based on any of the movies. It deals with the symbiote invasion, and quickly unravels into an apocalyptic scenario in which all of Manhattan has been quarantined to deal with the threat. Spiderman, along with many other Marvel characters, is stuck in the middle of this struggle, and he fights to defeat the ever-growing tide of attacking symbiotes.
The game follows in Spiderman 2's wake in that it's a free-roaming game and the missions are spread out along the massive Manhattan backdrop. Where it doesn't follow in Spiderman 2's wake is in the combat. For those of us who played Spiderman 2, we will all remember how cool it was to swing around and upgrade your abilities, but we also remember taking out the same baddies over and over with incredibly clunky combat and repetitive and frustrating tactics. In WoS, the combat is an extension of the web swinging. You can fight your enemies on the ground, on a wall, or hundreds of feet above the streets, as happens in one breath-taking and epic boss battle with Vulture, and you will always feel like you have absolute freedom of motion. One of the sleekest things you can do is start climbing a building, then zip along it, sliding on your knees, to shoot over the top and begin attacking the baddies. Attacks are fluid and visceral, and the enemies towards the end of the game are relentless.
One of the flaws I have heard about is Spiderman character, and i can assure you he is a whiny teen, but isn't that who spiderman is supposed to be?
