Very Good

Good game but one MAJOR bug

Sphinx is a solid platformer for the Gamecube with crisp, colorful graphics and simple, engaging gameplay. Be warned, however: there is a major bug about halfway through the game. There is a cutscene that takes place in the castle of Uruk next to a fireplace. There is a save point available immediately after this cutscene. Should you save your game and 1) turn off the system or 2) die, you will respawn at that save location, but the door through which you passed earlier will be permanently sealed. No further progress in the game is possible. How Eurocom missed this, I have no idea.

I found Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy to be graphically superb. The many characters were so interesting sometimes I just stopped the action and enjoyed the detail. Sphinx and the Mummy were both very controllable. Climbing, jumping and other movements were solid, usually if you aim right they would make the jump or climb.

I am a 60 year old gamer just starting to explore the universe of video game play. For me Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy was beautiful in it's art work and challenging in the quest. I believe all ages would enjoy this video game.

A decent adventure

"Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy" is a pretty solid adventure, although it's plagued by long, intrusive loading times, and a framerate that dips frequently. Still, the graphics are pretty and the gameplay and controls are agreeable. The puzzle-solving element is particularly rewarding. Seems to take a certain amount of inspiration from "Starfox Adventures" and the Zelda series. If you're a hero in search of a quest, you could do a lot worse.
