I thought the Speed Racer movie was one of the best action films I have seen, let alone one of the best movies about racing. The game definitely doesn't fall short. Taking place 1 year after the film, you get to race as either Speed Racer, Racer X, Trixie, or a number of other characters found in the movie, even some that weren't shown and each has their own unique handling style.
The tracks are impressive and very well built. It's great to even race on tracks that were in the movie along with variations of those racks.
The AI are not going to make it easy for you, even on the easiest Championship setting. You'll have to master the art of Car-Fu just like in the movie by utilizing your ability to jump and spin to perform intense moves like jumping over attacking rivals and then slamming them off the track with a well placed shunt. Or take down everyone around you at once with a roundhouse spin.
You can even request an alliance with other racers to help you tear up your rivals and clear the road to victory.
The point system makes it possible to make a come-from-behind victory by performing well in Car-Fu attacks along with how well you raced.
Don't worry if you feel left out in how to pull of the best Car-Fu moves and/or advanced racing techniques as the game includes helpful hints and a training mode.
If you love aggressive racing action, then definitely give Speed Racer a go. To feel even more in the action, give Speed Racer The Video Game on the Nintendo Wii a go by using your own motion to engage the jump jacks and Car-Fu moves.
This is a really entertaining game, I know the movie sucked but don't get influenced by that, the game really hooks you up. The tracks are crazy, the racers are the dirtiest. Get ready for some insane, violent races.
