A Non-Flashy Version of Phantom Brave/Disgaea

This game is pretty much a PS1 level of bordem strategy based RPG. This may seem like a scathing review, however I am a fan of Disgaea, Phantom Brave, & Shining Force. Of course if you never played this genre before your reviews will not be over a 3 or 4.

The Good you get to stack alot of people on your team to go into battle with you. When you level you get to see your current strength and defense and see the immediate effect of adding points. (Please add points to defense it gives you more HP as well).

The Bad
The equipment system it is based on slots for example you start with 4 slots and a iron armor takes 3 slots, however when you gain a level you you get more extra slots so you can equip more items that boost atrributes. Unfortunately magic and greater attack powers are tied to this "slot" system as well.

Also if your healer die (you start with 1 and get another a couple of missions later) its game over most times because you are insanely outnumbered.

The Ugly
You have to craft everthing from Weapons to Attack Power and Magic. And equiping powerful items could leave you with no room for armor or magic. There are no latent powers everything needs to be crafted.

Really Bad

To be frank... this is Japanese White Bread

The word of the day for this game is white bread.. Japanese white bread. It is a turn based JRPG war strategy just like any other you have played since the days of your first system.

The pro's:
Well it does have a lot of recruitable characters which is always good, but you can only go into battle with a max of six of them.. which defeats the purpose of have 40 characters....
Other than the the large number of recruitable characters not much is special about this game.

The Con's:
White bread, in other words plain, wait have I played this before? Hard to tell cause it's exactly like any standard turn based JRPG war strategy out there, with absolutely nothing to make it stand out from the others. Really good graphics ... if it was a game made for the original Nintendo, but since it was released for a 3rd generation system I am apt to slap the people at Atlus for allowing such terrible graphics. If your going to make a game with bad graphics the story needs to be either really fun like Disgaea, or really engaging, this was neither.

even though the game has no tutorial, this game is probably one of the best Strategy-RPGs ive played. If you liked Operation Darkness, rent this.
