Apocalypse Dubai?

Clearly Coppola's "Apocalypse Now" was the driving vision behind this game. Love the action, the music and the story concept but I think they went too far by making it an all-out extermination battle pitting Walker (Willard) and his Delta Force squad against an entire American Army commanded by the renegade Colonel Konrad (Kurtz). Frankly it was disturbing to be placed in this scenario but I guess that's what they were trying to achieve. They were obviously trying (and succeeding) in showing the ugly consequences of poor choices you make. Unfortunately there are very few opportunities in the game to choose to do "the right thing". The few choices you are allowed to make result in little or no difference in the end that I could see. Instead you are pretty much dragged through the mayhem, standing in command of a hellish killing machine and there is very little you can do to change it. I would have preferred alternate endings that reflect the result of different choices. But having said that the game is still definitely worth a shot (pun intended).

Very Good

Great Game

I didn't rent this, I played it on my PC, but I assume it doesn't make much difference. Anyway, I thought this game was great. It's not too long or too short and offline play doesn't require anything to be unlocked, which is a plus.

The game play is pretty great too, nothing really new, but if you like to jump into a game and start shooting things up, you won't be disappointed. I've seen a lot of critics saying it's too bland, but why change something that isn't broken?

There is a lot of weapons to pick up along your travels too, like the Famas, a Desert Eagle, grenade launchers and you can control turrets to take out choppers and stuff.

What was really good about this game though was the plot. It keeps you interested the entire way through, and even when you get to a spot you keep dying at, trust me, you WILL find at least one of these spots, you just want to keep playing.

Without giving anything away, the ending was great. It brings good closure to the story and it doesn't end with unanswered questions. I'm hoping for a sequel, but I won't hold my breath.

The bottom line: Rent this game out if you're interested in cover based shooters. I wouldn't recommend buying it though, especially if you have no intentions playing the multiplayer feature.

having said that..this is one of the best games i've played in a while. 2k made a visually beautiful game.

this game kinda plays like mass affect 2 action wise but without all of the tedious side quests and dialogue.

the soundtrack is spot on and sets the mood perfectly.

i haven't even played the multiplayer yet.

the story is sublime and worthy of a motion picture.
it had me up all night.

my only beef is that i wish it wasn't so linear and short, but i'm being picky because i tend to love open world games like fall out.

this game is definitely worth the rental

great job 2k this is an excellent game!
