Spec Ops: Awesome

I would go as far to say that this is the best fps shooter ive ever played. Gameplay was great and interesting at several parts, using interesting/ new mechanics like sand, light changes, etc. But where the game really shines is in its very moving story. Believable characters, that drive the plot in a captivating way, and actually make you -FEEL- something rather than ...go here, kill that, blow stuff up, etc. that one can expect from most fps shooters. Truly impressed with this title.

This game is not for the casual shooter fan. The story is deep and involved and if you play to the end you will see why so many gamers and critics applaud it. I've read some of the reviews here on GameFly and it is pretty clear to me that they never played through the game. First, it is not an First Person Shooter. I cannot for the life of me figure out out why someone who admits they didn't play through it can bad mouth it so much. It was fascinating to me to watch the three main characters mentally deteriorate. For those who actually play through to the end, I'm pretty sure they too will admit that they felt emotionally drained by the end. I served in Vientnam and the ending of this story was immensely satisfying. Anyone who has not played through should do themselves a favor and Google "SPECOPS THE LINE WALKTHROUGH" then watch the end game videos. I applaud the writer(s) of this game and hope to see more like it in the future.

Don't expect smooth shooting controls or (in my opinion) even all that much fun to be had during action segments. This game is about the story, the characters. The general idea is watching what would happen in a more realistic world (than other modern shooters, such as call of duty or battlefield) if an American soldier decides to take it upon himself to be a hero, even if it means denying orders. This is the first game in recent memory that has truly made me sit down and think, not only about the game, but about myself as well.
