Ok so I just got the 5th installment in soul calibur, and lets just say its got a bit of a learning curve. I have played everyone since the first one, and this is by far almost as pointless as 4.(Although I think 4 was better than this) Number 1 it is not worth a buy because there is little to no substance in the game.
Once you beat the 2 hour story mode all you are left with is arcade, quick battles, and guess what SUPER HARD ARCADE. The difficulty in this game when playing against com opponents is simply ridiculous. This isn't soul cailbur as you know it. Its some kind of street fighter rip off now. Not only will the com continue to juggle you to the point of cussing out loud the game refuses to let you get even the slightest hint of satisfaction.
Most of what you would expect is there though. They got character customization that's very well done, and a heap full of rewards if you decide to take your skills online. Albeit online is pretty much the only thing this game has to offer.
Now to tell you about the story mode its short, and you play as unlikable characters the entire time. Well now that I have told you everything about the story lets move to arcade. In arcade mode you fight against a bunch of guys. Now that I have completely covered arcade mode lets move to quick battle mode. If you have played Tekken then quick battle mode is pretty much the same as Tekkens mode of going up ranks, and fighting a bunch of com's. Well now that I have completely covered quick battle mode lets move on to legendary battle mode. Most of you will never make it past the first fight. Now that I have covered Legendary battle mode....wait that's it that is all there is in this game.
Overall Soul calibur V is a game that disappoints, and frustrates at the same time. I give this game a 5 out of 10
Thanks for reading bye.
Where is the passion? Its hard to believe that this was once a beloved franchise. Now its like the developers have no passion for the creation. Cut corners everywhere... Less and less modes and options... What have you been doing for 3 years?
