I was highly anticipating this game before it came out, but now I was a bit disappointed.
I spent about 60 hours on Soul Calibur 2 on PS2 back in early 2000's and mastered most of Cassandra's moves. But SC4 seems to modified a lot of the combos by getting rid of some serious moves such as the easy fast AAB, brutal ->->A+B, ->->B and some quick Kick combs. There is definitely a bit of learning curve to get used to the move list. And I feel that they are not as effective as the old ones.
I tried Yoda, his tiny figure doesn't do much justice and he doesn't move as fast as Taki. I don't think the developer has made Yoda as well rounded as what he's supposed to be.
Another complaint I have is the online mode. It was my first day trying out and I couldn't get into any of the matches. I got this message saying "session full" all the time. When I assembled my own session, nobody came.
Overall, it is still one of the best fighting games out there. The most attractive features are: 1) side way step and side way rolling so you don't always have to block and gives you attacking advantage once you dodge. 2) fighting with different weapons is just awesome experience!
Oh, for those who like RPG style game, this fighting game allows you to customize your character. And you get achievements on top of that. Not bad.
On last thing, you can still get pretty far by butt mashing on this game. Some moves are pretty easy to pull off. But if you are dealing with experienced fighters and don't block or don't know your moves well, you will be dead in the water....FAST!
