Good

More of the same

I was hoping for something new. The same combat, same kind of arenas, same characters. The adventure mode of the game was shorter than last time, and the strategy mode was weak and way too easy to bet. Overall, it is a fun game of hack and slash, but little more.

Soul Calibur 3 in 3 words... That Darn Good!

Soul Calibur III is the most recent chapter in the series of Soul Calibur fighting games featuring all of the characters you know and love from the first two games plus a couple new badass characters. The story in Soul Calibur III revolves around the knight Siegfried who finally had rid himself of the corrupted blade called the Soul Edge and is on a quest to seal away the Soul Edge for good. However, some characters like the fencer Raphael are seeking out the evil bade for their own malicious purposes.
There are over 30 characters to play each with their own style of fighting, plus you can make your own character and become your own legend. There are also hundreds of ways to play. Not only is there the standard Story mode and multiplayer mode, but there are also tournaments, different ways to play head to head, plus there is a quest master mode where you can take your character and fight under different scenarios. There are also tons of unlockables from new arenas, to new characters and different weapons.
If there is one specific thing I like about this game, it’s the fighting system. It is very fluid and very responsive. You can even start a move than switch to a different one if you think you are going to be countered. Strategy and knowledge about your character are key in this game so you can make the best of their moves and fighting styles. Plus the characters and the environments look absolutely beautiful. And even though this is a fighting game and I know that a lot of people shy away from fighting games because there is that one person who is incredibly good with every character, the moves are easy to do and easy to remember, plus the practice mode is there so you work on those moves over and over until you are able to take on all comers and knock the stuffing out of them. So if you are looking for a sleek, good looking fighting game with tons of characters like knights, ninjas, samurais, ghost pirates, Vikings and many others, pick Soul Calibur III.

This is one of the greatest fighters for the PS2 period. I ordered this game thinking it may be fun for a little while, though not long, as I'm not really in to fighting games. The ability to create your own character and all of it's in depth creation options along with the strategy RPG element brought to the game through the Chronicle of the Sword mode have had me playing this game for hours.
There's a ton of different weapons that you can buy and equip your custom characters with as well as the different equipment and clothing options that can be bought with money earned in nearly all of the game's modes also add a great level of re playability. I highly recommend this game for nearly anyone, fighting fan or not.
