sonic is a game that is easy on some a lot of parts but its realy hard on the hard parts so if you like hard games you shouldn't get this since there is only 3 realy hard parts in this game. so i would say rent it
This game needed more work before it was released. The loading times were ridiculous, sometimes 20 seconds of loading for a simple two-sentence cutscene, followed by another 20 seconds of loading. The camera and controls are quite glitchy and some of the levels are frustratingly difficult. I did enjoy the game despite these flaws. I certainly advise RENTING it for hardcore sonic fans.
I went into this game thinking I would be severly dissapointed. Well I was suprised. I actually enjoyed it. I think Sega was irresponsible in releasing it when it still had some issues to work out, but you can tell they put a lot of work into it.
Decent story that flows really well. Shadow's levels are what Shadow the Hedgehog should have been. Graphics are pretty good. Sonic's speed levels are fun. Gameplay can be quite challenging which is a plus from the quite easy previous Sonic games. The levels, though the same for each story, are suited to the specific character. So with the exception of a few of Sonic and Shadow's levels, it feels like you are playing a different level entirely. Most of the levels are well planned out. Multiplayer is the best in any Sonic game ever. The music is incredible as well. Some of it I didn't like at first, but it tends to grow on you.
Silver gives an interesting gameplay twist, but it can get pretty tiring after a while. Play Silver's story last so that you know where certain areas in the town is located. It'll save you time since he is so slow. Certain character's voices are annoying, but at least some of them sound pretty decent this time around. Extra character used in levels are a pain such as Amy and a few others. Omega and Blaze are pretty fun to use though. The last fight with the super forms aren't as spectacular as it could have been, but it was still kinda fun.
I was disappointed with the first half of Sonic's story. Trust me though, get past Iblis (boss after the fifth or sixth level) and it gets more fun. Some bugs are present throughout the game and the camera has a few issues, but I was able to get around these. Hopefully they'll be fixed by a patch. The loading time is a real pain, but you'll live. The last story level where you have to collect the Chaos Emeralds is a huge pain. Oh and Princess Elise falls in love with Sonic.
