I grew up on sonic, until now I had great memories of the games. This changed everything, the developers really lost the great feel that the original games captured; the speed, uh, and oh yea the speed. Maybe I've just grown out of the game, or maybe its the fact that this particular sonic is more like an rpg, whatever it might be I sure as heck don't want to run around as a blue hedgehog just to speak to people on the map and buy some new shoes. What I want to do is fly by at a break neck pace and bounce of some springs while catching golden rings. (In writing it almost seems that the new sonic would be a nice evolution of the series, but trust me it's not.) If you want to tarnish your wonderful memories of the original sonic games rent this one, if not, don't rent this game IT'S NOT WORTH THE SHIPPING TIME, trust me.

I simply can't express how frustratingly awful the three hours of my time wasted on this game were. To get an idea you could step on hot coals, walk repeatedly into a wall, pull your hair out strand by strand...oh wait...these things would probably be fun compared to Sonic the Hedgehog. As a longtime fan of the Sonic franchise it pains me to have to blast it this way, but around the 50th time that our little blue sprinter got stuck against a wall for no reason, disappeared off the screen due to a wandering camera angle, or initiated a painfully long loading time for an embarassingly short pointless scene; I was wishing that I'd never heard of it. In a nutshell; the controls are impossible to negotiate, the camera angles are glitchy, load times are loooooooong and frequent, and the unnecessary deaths due to poor design will drive you mad. The graphics are good, but they can't save this mess of a game.
No game has sucked as much as sonic for ps3. It is more painful than slipping and falling into a huge fryolator. I would rather go through a lobotomy done by a drunk bum than play sonic the hedgehog. WORD>
