i honestly didn't care for this game. I would rather play the Sonic Adventure game from the Dreamcast again than this game.

The Good!
The Graphics- Sonic Unleashed is a beautiful looking game and they finally have the right art style. Sonic and friends look extremely cartoony without looking stupid, humans look in place, and the environments are pleasant to look at.

Sonic is Fast- Sonic is as speedy as in Sonic Rush and the game does a great job switching from 3D to 2D gameplay without disorienting you. Sonic also has some neat new moves like wall jumping.

The Music- A jazzy soundtrack plays throughout every area of the game and suits it very well.

The Bad!
Sonic the Werehog- Gameplay is split between two modes -- Speedy Sonic similar to traditional Sonic gameplay and slower brawler gameplay more aligned with God of War's fighting and Prince of Persia's platforming if both of those games were drab. To make matters worse, the gameplay is split with about 70% of your time playing these bland brawling stages.

Boring Level Designs- All the levels that I have played so far are pretty boring affairs. The speed levels are unimaginative ventures with few interesting enemies and layouts that just seem to play themselves. The brawling stages are basically one room, connected with a hallway to another room and occasionally a switch or box-jumping puzzle with tons of mindless enemies to button mash your way through.

The Camera- If toe-tapping was Pixel Sonic's signature than a terrible 3D camera that never faces were you need to look is the Polygon Sonic's Hancock. By this point in gaming we should not be dying from bad camera angles more than we are dying from enemy attacks.

The Hub World- Because taking us away from the speed as much as possible is top priority...

The Bottom Line
The speed stages show promise and you want to keep playing those to see if they finally deliver quality, but the hub-quests and werehog stages keep dragging down the experience. Sega should stop feeling the need to make a 10 hour epic and give fans the 3 hour speed fest we have been begging for.
