"Unleashed": Day is fun, but night isn't.

"Sonic Unleashed?" Who put a leash on Sonic, and how's that possible when you consider how fast his reflexes are?
Those questions will have to be answered somewhere else.
Sonic Unleashed follows the standard fare for the Sonic franchise - go from point A to point B, gathering as many rings as you can and smashing evil robots.
Well, that's what happens in the day stages. The night stages turn Sonic into a were-hedgehog monster thing.
Those stages are more standard platforming fare: go from point A to point B, beat up bad guys, climb or swing on poles and make double jumps.
Hey, if it's worked for all this time, why not keep on going to it? Well, some parts of the night stages aren't very well executed.
Grabbing poles and ledges can be a hit or miss move - with a miss leading Sonic into a watery grave and the player back to the Stage Select Screen.
Another problem is the combat during the night turns into nothing more than frantic up and down waves of the Wiimote and Nunchuck.
The story is okay - it has most of the characters you are looking for, but it doesn't sizzle.
Still, if you're looking for more of the classic stages where Sonic runs all over the place, you can't go wrong with Sonic Unleashed during the day.
It's too bad the weaker night stages vastly outnumber the day stages.
So what to do? I say rent Sonic Unleashed and give ti a try before deciding if you want to buy it or not.
