Sonic and Co. return once again for some high time surfing on the Wii to prove he is the fastest thing alive.
Now, I never played the original Sonic Riders (yet), so when I started this game I got a bit fustrated, then I discovered this is one of the few Wii games that MUST be played with a Gamecube controller.
The game starts off with, as most games do, tutorials, which seem difficult at first hbowever once you get the hang of it, it's quite simple.
Gravity Control in this game is a simpler way for characters to drift, which at times will go off on you and sometimes won't make the turn easier, for some parts it seems like it works against you.
This game has drifitng, gravity boosts and my favorite: Grinding. The abilities of thwe boards depends on the amount of rings you collected which re-spawn at the beginning of every lap. You may notice the more boards you unlock the trickier it is to win, since the characters you race with outside story mode, use the boards.
Sotry mode is short and it seems like the Babylon storyline is much much longer then the Heroes' storyline. In the game you can crash into items, however Power characters like Storm and Knuckles seem to be able to smash these things away before making contact, not throwing you off balance, but it does slow you down.
The only thing this game lacksa over the last game is the Super Sonic characters but I'm told it makes up for this, with the unlockable NiGHTS characters (I have yet to unlock).
For a game that recieved such a poor rating amoung the other critics came as a shock to me, I was the one who thought I wouldn't enjoy it and would ruin Sonic but I honestly cannot seem to stop playing.
This game will clearly making my top 10 (if not 5) Wii games and one of my top 10 favorite video games. I'm so eager for a Sonic Riders 3.
if you play this game for the Wii, remember, GAMECUBE CONTROLLER for better accuracy.
I give Sonic Riders Zero Gravity 9/10
Speed on Hedgehog, speed on.
