Once you buy everything the game is really boring and you cant get through the story mode. It was very appealing until you buy the best car and learn all the fight moves. I recommend you dont buy anything until the end of the game.
Well the best thing that I can say about this game is that it does everything i’ve ever thought I wanted in a game. When I played other sandbox games, i felt they all had their focus. Be it driving, shooting, or combat, each had a special power like bullet-time out of the Matrix or something more akin to Prototype or inFamous. What I think Sleeping Dogs does well is bring the best of those elements together in one game. As a game, it’s a solid play. It looks good enough and sounds even better to me. The story was compelling but I felt the narrative was quite weak. I know that sounds like a contradiction, but let me justify the statement. I was compelled to move Wei Shen down the path the game wanted me to but the illusion of freedom was easy to spot and I can think of ways other games have done it better. Be that as it may, it”s a good game. I like it!! But the True Crime series’ gameplay mechanics were truly missed: When I fail a mission, the game story should move on while also acknowledging my failure. Instead, I am forced to replay the failed task over and over until I succeed. I’d expect that as i choose to do the cop missions over the triad missions the story line would adjust accordingly, but no. On top of that, I won’t be getting any new missions until I complete a specific cop or triad mission. I want a narrative for all combinations of mission choices. All in all though, good enough to beat, but I felt there was missed potential.
This game is open world, but it's also very focused. You won't be doing much deviating from the developer's plan for you, but if you're ok with that, there's a fun, melee-based GTA-style game to be found here.
