I haven't had this much fun playing a Sandbox game since GTA IV, maybe even GTA: SA. This was even more fun than the ridiculousness that was Saints Row 3.
First, the graphics aren't the most up to date, but they do more than enough to keep the game looking great.
Controls are great. Gunplay is fun, violent and effective.
Combat is excellent! So rewarding to hit people in the face, with foot, fist or weapon.
The upgrade system is fantastic, rewarding yet again.
The story and story progression is great.
Both the cop and triade scenarios are equally fantastic and unique.
Driving is awesome, collectables are the perfect amount, not too many but enough to keep you interested.
Everything about this game, top to bottom, from gunplay, combat, story, racing, cars, weapons, set-pieces, violence, action, trophies, collectables, replayability, customizations, perks, skill progressoin -EVERYTHING- was clearly designed with one intention and that is making making you feel rewarded for EVERYTHING you do which leads to a great sense of progress, fun, immersion and excitement.
Although the game was perfectly long and had a great and solid conclusion, it's so good, I really wish I could spend some more time in Hong Kong. It does a great job of getting you sucked into the world and it's characters. I could go for a sequel right now!
