I'm very careful about rating games, I rated this game a 10+
It's bloody, gory, scarey, and puzzle solving. It's all a horror fan like me could ask for. I remember beating Silent Hill 1 when it came out.
Silent Hill is one of my top 5 greatest horror game.

There is no scare factor in this one like there was in silent hill 2 and its quite glitchy.Still i do think downpour is good enough to keep the series alive.Silent hill is still a beautiful place graphically and the plot is still as complex and mysterious as it was before(in some ways),but there was something missing in this one.The variety of enemies was low,the world doesn't fit the horror genre as well as it used to.Downpour just doesn't have as much character and uniqueness as the older silent hill games.Downpour was just ok.
I liked this game a lot at first, kind of like a more classic Silent Hill, although lacking the sirens and W.T.F.-ness of the original. After lugging around town for a few days, lost as ever, we had to resort to the walkthrough to refind our place. It was then that we discovered how much game was left and kind of quit on it. About halfway in, the story itself got much less engrossing as the side missions do more to detract, than add, to the flow and ambiance of the game. All in all, it was probably better than I'm reviewing it, but I just don't have 20+ hours to commit to a game like in my younger years.
