Civilization Revolution

This is console strategy at it's finest. As a longtime Civ fan on PC, I was a bit skeptical when I first heard they were creating a console version of a beloved PC franchise. I've played other console strategy titles, and none of them captured the feel of PC strategy gaming.
I can assure you that Civ Revolution gets it right. The controls are a breeze to pick up. The depth, while slightly tweaked for consoles, is still there in all it's glory. Some have said that the game is "dumbed" down for consoles, and while some of the features found in the PC version of previous Civ titles are missing, this is still a Civ game at it's finest.
Controlling units is a breeze, the addiction level is still here in a big way, and more importantly, I haven't experienced a hint of slowdown when action gets heavy on screen. This is a big problem for a lot of console strategy titles, but I've yet to see this in Revolution. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but I haven't seen it, and that is a very good thing.
Graphically, it's not a stunner, but I've certainly seen worse in this generation of games. All the characters have a cartoon-ish look to them, but it fits with the overall game design.
Sound is probably the worst portion of this game. The leaders all speak in jibberish, similarly to the Sims games, and they get annoying really fast. I ended up turning down the voices because they became unbearable after a few games.
The game options are a bit sparse when compared to the PC versions, but there's plenty here to keep you busy for as long as you want to play. Play Now, Scenarios, and online play for those who want to play against human opponents. Not much to boast about, but still fun nonetheless.
Overall, this game is a blast, and I highly recommend it to any strategy fans, or those that have been intimidated by strategy titles in the past. This game eases you into the genre, and before long, you'll feel like you've been playing strategy titles for years.
9/10 Excellent
