Too basic and random for my liking

When things get boring - I mean really boring - what do you do? Grab a skateboard and lead a rebellion against the mayor for his fun killing rules?
That’s the setup for Shaun White Skateboarding, a game where you pick an avatar, a skateboard and explore up to seven different areas of the not fun town.
At the beginning, only one area is unlocked - to unlock the rest, you have to complete challenges like race through gates, perform a certain number of different tricks, and or score a certain number of points you get by performing tricks correctly. Each successful challenge also unlocks different gear, outfits, and songs.
But you don’t have to take on the challenges immediately - you can search through the area for icons and practice performing tricks instead.
However, the basic gameplay is where the game starts to go wrong; to perform most tricks, you randomly wave the Wiimote in one direction while holding the A and/or B button (or no button). And you do it over and over again; there’s no real skill in that.
And if you get stuck on a challenge, then the game will grind to a halt (some of the latter challenges get quite difficult).
The multiplayer aspect tries to add some flair. Up to four players can compete to see who can get to the finish line fastest or who can score the most points via tricks.
Players who like to skateboard will want to pick up Shaun White Skateboarding (on the Wii), but I found that the presentation is flat and the story is ridiculous. RENT IT
