Samurai Shodown Anthology does a superb of porting all the Samurai Shodown Neo Geo arcade games. The addition of Samurai Shodown VI also allowed US gamers to actually be able to play it outside of Japan. As an added bonus in VI the Wii version all the extras are unlocked right off the bad, which is good for lazy gamers but bad for gamers that like challenge to unlock things. A very nice feature is the ability to customize all of the character's sprites in all of the games. Also the option to use the sound tracks from the arcade version or new arranged version of the voices and music. The downfall to this game is no online play and the controls. If you don't have a Classic Controller or the Hori Digital Arcade Stick you are pretty much stuck with bad controls. The Wiimote and Nunchuk is a horrid setup. Overall the game is a great trip down memory lane for Neo Geo fans and a great addition to a collection.

If you let slide that this game is older, This game makes a lot of current fighting games seem boring. A major suggestion is getting the Wii Classic Remote Pro before playing this as you will find that Nunchuck plus Wiimote = Terrible controls. This game has translations for the cutscenes in between battle's -which aren't that good of a translation mind you- but no english voice acting for the fighters. This can be set aside considering were not here to listen to their voices but to play a fighting game. This game is definitely for those of you that remember playing the older version's or if your a otaku for fighting games.

This is a great nolstalgic game for all those who love fighting games. Unfortunately the controls dont work very well with the nunchuck and wii-mote. If you decide to get this game get it for a different system.

Great games, bad controls

I'll keep this quick. The games are faithful to their arcade counterparts and, as such, are awesome. The controls, unfortunately, have been mapped to a Wiimote. You know, because using the dpad and the B button/trigger thing is so convenient. If they had at least included support for the GCN controllers, this game would have gotten a 10. As it is, it's nigh unplayable.

The subtitle above is the descriptor of the fourth fighting Spirit in Samurai Shodown VI, which is just one of the games on SNK Playmore's Samurai Shodown Anthology. As has been the case with the previous SNK compilations, Samurai Shodown Anthology has suffered under an extremely limited distribution and received very little attention when it officially shipped. The game lets players explore their affinity for 2D sprites by offering the original Samurai Shodown all the way up to Samurai Shodown VI. Although there were other games in the Samurai Shodown franchise, the six classic fighters are all present here and will certainly stir up the memories of fighting game fans. It's unfortunate that Samurai Shodown Anthology slips by so many people unnoticed, as it represents a sizable chunk of the classic 2D fighting scene.

Love Samurai Shodown, hate that the controls.

SNK playmore should have made it so that you can use a gamecube controller. Using a Wiimote or wiimote with nunchaku does not do it justice. Classic controller is way better.

In conclusion, don't rent it, buy it. And if you do, buy a classic controller.
