I was looking through the used games section and did a search by Member Rating, I was curious what was listed as the worst game for the DS. I saw that that Safecracker was given a 2.5 so I decided to find out why. After reading a couple reviews on different sites, the only reason I saw as to why this game has a 2.5 rating is because it's hard. I love puzzle games, so I decided to buy it.
After playing through to the end, I don't understand why this game is getting such bad reviews. Sure, it's not as polished as Professor Layton, but it's still a very good puzzle game. The game doesn't hold your hand at all, it puts you in the house and says find the billionaire's will and that's what I liked about it. There are some puzzles that really leave you scratching your head, I was actually stumped for a couple days on a couple different puzzles. What's great, is that you can move on to other puzzles most of the time. There's always some type of logical solution, you just have to use your head and try some things out.
The biggest let down for me was that it was a bit short. Professor Layton has well over 100 puzzles. It's true, the difficulty doesn't know what it wants to do, you go from medium to very hard to simple. But here's the bottom line: if you think you'll enjoy a challenging puzzle game, this is totally worth it.
