Hit the slopes and rock it

Living in Los Angeles, I don’t get to hit the slopes quite as often as I would like to. What do I do? The next best thing, fire up SSX on Tour and combo some of the sickest tricks ever pulled on a snowboard. In real life I can only do about half of the moves, but in SSX, I am a living legend.

SSX has the best controls and feel when it comes to the extreme games and the combos and power-ups are far superb to the competitions. In this SSX, the whole goal is to work your way up from beginner to ruling the tour. Your trek to the top is marked by a series of events in slope style, racing, tricks, and now they have also added in some new challenges to keep the game fresh.

This game has the capability to make you feel like you're flying down the mountain. The snow flies up around you as you dodge, grind, and jump over trees all the while trying to beat the other racers down the hill.

This is another one of those games that I like to have around - it’s always fun to do a 720 backflip. If you don’t know what that is then you definitely need to play this game.

My review may be somewhat bias because the only other snowboarding game Ive played in recent memory was 1080 for the `Cube. The trick system takes a long while to get used to (took me 3 hours), and compared to 1080 feels nowhere near as creative. Tricks seem very limited, and it takes a long time to build up your trick/boost meter for those "Monster" tricks. I found this game frustrating until I began opening up the entire mountain for freeride, and only then (with a 15min straight top-to-bottom run) do you get a feel for how long this mountain really is! It was a letdown to see the Nintendo cast is not available from the get go, but some easy to find cheats can fix that! It beats 1080 for game length, but gets a wipeout in the trick dept. For Nintendo owners, give 1080 a shot also to compare.
