decided to rent the game before going to buy since ive heard a lot of people talking about it, but got it played it for maybe an hour and then went back to COD or Titanfall. the graphics are awesome, being able to talk to yell commands was cool, but overall game play wasn't what I thought it would have been.

Ryse: Son Of Rome is an OK game. The games strong point is its graphics. This game looks absolutely stunning. Everything, from the freakishly realistic looking facial animations to the fantastic textures and details, make this game worth checking out. The games weakest point is the combat. Combat in this game requires very little skill and all you have to do is mash the ‘x’ button to attack, ‘y’ to shield bash, and ‘a’ to counter. Once you wear down your opponent by mashing ‘x’ and ‘y’ and occasionally countering with ‘a’ you will get an opportunity to start a finishing move. Finishing moves are done with QTE button presses, so all you have to do is press ‘x’ or ‘y’ when prompted and BAM! If you mess up on a button press don’t worry you’ll still finish the move, you just won’t get extra points.
Ryse: Son Of Rome is a short game. There are only 8 chapters, which I finished in about 6 hours or so. It’s probably a good thing that this game is so short since the combat got boring after about 2 hours. Overall I enjoyed the game. I really liked the graphics and the Story was good. Even though the combat was boring, at least it worked well. With all that being said, I would recommend this game for rental.
