The only thing faster than the fists of Chinese martial arts expert Chief Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) is the mouth of wise-cracking LAPD Detective James Carter (Chris Tucker). The two form an unlikely, unwilling, and unstoppably hilarious duo in this buddy cop actionfest. Lee is a Hong Kong detective who, allied with Consul Han (Tzi Ma), has long been a thorn in the side of crime lord Juntao (Tom Wilkinson). Juntao tries to get revenge by kidnapping Han's daughter after the consul moves his family to Los Angeles. Han doesn't trust the FBI to get her back, so he calls in Lee for help. Lee winds up paired with Carter, and the two mismatched heroes buddy up to solve the case.
