I really didn't know what to expect when I started playing Rogue Trooper. I didn't see much advertising or any previews for the game, but I was surprised by the end result. Rogue Trooper takes a similar approach to an action game as kill.switch, except that Rogue Trooper is far better. Yes, you still hide behind cover and blindfire where needed, but unlike kill.switch, this game feels far less like a shooting gallery. It's more lenient which lets the action come faster. Also, the enemies aren't just soldiers, but planes, subs, mortars and tanks. It also throws in some cool tricks like using your rifle as a sentry gun and creating a holograph to distract enemies. You get some greta upgrades too, like a mortar, shotgun, beam rifle and incendiary grenades. The game isn't particularly hard or long, but it's gameplay is solid, framerate consistent and it never seems boring. Overall, it's the kind of game that warrants a rental, but has too little replayability to hold your interest past a few days.
