Played Dark Cloud 2?

I played Dark Cloud 1 & 2. They were Action/RPGs with everything you could possibly want... except non-cliched stories. I loved leveling up my weapons. I loved the weapon and item creation systems. I loved the wealth of sidequests and diversions, built right into the dungeons... And even if the dungeons were repetitive (they were randomly generated, after all) they still made good monster-stomping grounds. But, the story... Ugh! I started skipping cutscenes from the start.
That is what I'd come to expect from Level 5, the makers of the Dark Cloud series and this new PS2 game, Rogue Galaxy. And I was right. Bad story? Check! Compelling battle system? Check! It's like DMC + FF12. Awesome weapon and item creation? A resounding "YES." So deep! So addicting!
If you want a Final Fantasy-quality experience, don't look to any of Level 5's games. But, if all you want is an addictive dungeon romp, go and rent Rogue Galaxy now! Hey, do it anyway; you need to play something till GoWII comes out.
