This game was a big disapointment for me. When i began to play i first noticed the battle camera wasn't too great. It made fights with larger monsters or large groups of smaller monsters hard, especially when you've targeted a monster. I stopped playing before i finished the 1st boss battle. Maybe I'm just too used to XBOX 360 now.

Really Bad

Space Pirates deserve a better game.

Developer Level 5 also did Dark Cloud series, which this strongly resembles in excellent cartoon graphics and combat style. I enjoyed the second DC, but couldn't stand this game! I made it to chapter 4 and turned it off. Lets clear up what I liked about Rogue Galaxy (RG) first.
1) Space pirates, a group we could use more games about. Oddly, RG still uses regular old swords.
2) Guns! And the fact its not just you but other members of your team with missle weapons, excellent.
3) There is vocal talent, and while I didn't like some of the choices (Simon and the cat), at least every major/minor character I saw had a voice.
4) Skills are gained by items in a gridboard, not by levels. Not great, but different.
5) Graphics are good...
Now the not-so nice list...
1) OK, we're on a desert planet to start. And the lead is a blond guy. And now there's a robot and a funny-talking alien walking around... I didn't come across a name change option - but I'd say LUKE, C-3P0 and CHEWBACCA sound like good choices. The breaking point of plagerism for me was the DUNE ripoff giant worms.
2) No real exploration. Dark Cloud's 'on rails' stages. The worlds I visited were not very open at all, guiding me down little walkways with giant glowing treasure chests in plain sight.
3) Why does ... my character... keep... talking/repeating to himself?
Now what killed the game for me..
1) Wait. Whoah whoah whoah. The plot is so generic and/or stupid! Why-but-you-arrrgh! Two general examples of the ham-hands story, "I know we spent hours looking just for ya, but we were just about to leave without you! Hee hee!" "Oh no, we're out of BLANK! What will we do! Why, we just happen to be on the planet that makes BLANK. What a lucky break!" Fire the writer.
2)Battle Camera. Think Kingdom Hearts I where battles were going on behind you alot.
3) Delay of attack. To have me fight and then wait is lame. Even if I'm blocking.
4) Dumb AI. Allies die quick. 1stBoss just sat there.
Bleh!!
