I am a fan of Risk, the board game, as well as other PC iterations of Risk. My favorite version was the Playstation One version of Risk which included a Ultimate Risk mode with expanded maps and power-ups. This was the peak of Risk in my mind and nothing had come close. In some areas of the United States Risk: Global Domination for the PS2 has become a very rare game with a moderate price still. The first time I have been able to try this game was last week and my time with it was very very bitter. I went into this game having read other reviews at major game websites. From the second the load screen finished and I was faced with inboard graphics and sound I knew they had missed the mark. Listen, Board Game conversions to Video Games are a very very rare feat. I can think of a few with halfway decent gameplay, my favorite being The Game of Life on Playstation One, but they always have huge failures compared to the board game. So upon your search for this rare feat of board to video come to life, you may very well avoid Risk: Global Domination due to its shoddy conversion, lower than PSone standards, super slow turns (there is no reason I should have to wait for 5 minutes while the AI makes its Turns), and lack of updates or extras. You really have to play this to understand, but I don't recommend that. Instead get yourself Risk for the PSone and pick up the board game and call it a day.
